Posh Mackers
By Conor Magahy

This is an oddly shaped memoir. Stay where you are! These memories are from 1978 to 1988 and they are my own. Some other memories in this book belong to people born long before me. This took much longer than it should have to write. I travelled into memories. I had chosen to forget. When anyone does that journey, it can be difficult.

Posh Mackers, A rooted boot both sides of the River Liffey, is about what happens when poverty, snobbery and obsessive compulsive disorder collide. There will be no judgement if you cry at some points during this book. No judgement if you don't as well. Same rules apply for laughing.

Posh Mackers 5 product stars
"Half way through I was hooked, by the end I was amazed by these kids and their survival skills. Conor's description of his book delivers exactly that, but its the details within that surprise and shock you. It is a well written book the writer has a skill that makes the words on paper flow and absorbs the reader into their lives willing them joy. I'll be watching out for the next book hopefully it won't take 20 years this time." Ann Mc Namara - Thursday 23 June 2022
Reminds me of Sam Beckett s Famous Quote 5 product stars
"Try, fail; try again, fail again; try harder, fail harder. A true to life, honest and at times heart wrenching life account. Posh Mackers represents all of our inner failures, and at times, how we ve overcome them. The tensions of family and the hidden strife of an era. Impossible not to laugh and cry while reading this phenomenal creation. This book should be Ireland s No.1 Bestseller. After tou read it, you ll understand why the author just doesn t have that luck. This will be the book you tell your grandkids is a must read on life and lessons" Sean Dublin - Friday 15 July 2022
Gritty, innocent & uninhibited. 5 product stars
"The after effects of post Covid ICU coma has left me with darting eyes & poor concentration. This was my first book read since October 2020. I was immediately gripped by the gritty, innocent, uninhibited presentation, referencing the music of the time. Your raw, heart rending emotions, revealed an incredible strength & fortitude that has laid bare your young life. Your stoicism has evolved through fear, guilt & survival. I am grateful for the insight. Positive vibes Conor. Thank you. P.S, this would make a wonderful screen play." Denise P. - Monday 8 August 2022
I couldn t put it down!! 5 product stars
"This book arrived this evening and it s 1am and I have just finished it.. he says at the start, you will laugh or you will cry and I can say I have done both.. I laughed at his descriptions of Dublin places and it s people and the idea of running through a certain park at night!! and I cried for him and his siblings and realised how strong and resilient this made them. It s been a long time since I have come across a book that drew me in and made me just sit still and read and this book does that.. he has a way with words and keeping you interested. Please don t keep me waiting 20 years for the next chapter! I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of your works" Louise B - Saturday 25 June 2022
SUPERB! Storytelling like it should be.. 5 product stars
"Ok where do I start? This book has reignited my love of reading again. After hearing about this book on liveline and the subject of OCD/poverty/1980's Ireland...I was intrigued and ordered my copy. It arrived signed and I dived in..I could NOT put it down! How does one marry the painful memories of a ACES childhood with humor and pathos? The writer has nailed it. I think this book is one of the best I have read in years. Move over Angela's Ashes this is just brilliant. Thank you for this treasure of a read. Please please write a sequel!"
